the new carse for 2017

                              New carse                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ASTON MARTIN

DB11:   Aston Martin’s DB series dates to 1948, when a sporty car produced by Aston’s then-owner, Sir David Brown, debuted at the London Motor Show. The model was later known as the “DB1.” Later DB high-performance models became the car of choice for James Bond. The latest incarnation, the DB11, will be the most powerful production DB ever, with a 5.2-litre, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine that produces 600 horsepower. It’s also the fastest, with a top speed of 200 miles per hour and a zero-to-62 mph time of 3.9 seconds. The design pays homage to past Astons with its elongated hood and side vents, but it has a more chiseled surface and narrowed headlights. Fuel economy hasn’t been announced, but Aston switched from a naturally aspirated engine to a turbocharged one in part to meet increasing U.S. fuel economy standards. It also made greater use of lightweight aluminum. On sale later this year; it starts at $211,955 (U.S.).

AUDI

A4:   Audi’s midsize sedan, last redesigned in 2013, gets a major overhaul. It has a more angular, sportier design than the previous model and a standard power sunroof. Audi has updated the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine to deliver 252 horsepower, up from 220. It’s mated to a new seven-speed transmission. More use of lightweight aluminum has helped the A4 shed 99 pounds on front-wheel-drive models and 66 on all-wheel-drive models, improving handling and fuel efficiency. The A4 gets up to 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving. The interior is more spacious, with better headroom and rear legroom. New 12.3-inch colour display screen and a newly available heads-up display, which projects information into the driver’s field of vision. Went on sale in the spring; starts at $37,300 (U.S.).

R8:   The second generation of the R8 supercar is the most powerful production Audi ever. It shares half its parts with the R8 LMS race car, including the same 5.4-litre V-10 engine. That’s mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The base R8 produces 540 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. On the top-of-the-line V10 Plus, the same engine is pushed to 610 horsepower and a zero-to-60 time of 3.2 seconds. The R8 achieves a top speed of 205 mph. There are significant updates inside. There’s also a 12.3-inch display screen controlled by a tablet that recognizes handwriting. Starts at $162,900 (U.S.).

Q7:   Gets long-awaited update for 2017. The three-row crossover has a crisper design, arrow-like LED running lights and a standard panoramic sunroof. Drivers can select one of seven driving modes, including comfort and off-road; a separate off-road option can raise the ride height by 60 millimeters. Has a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. Inside, there’s a host of new technology, including a 12.3-inch display screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Powered by a 333-horsepower 3.0-litre V6 with an eight-speed transmission. It gets 21 mpg in combined city and highway driving. Went on sale early this year starting at $54,800 (U.S.).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        BMW

i3: The funky carbon-fiber gas-electric hybrid gets a more powerful 33 kilowatt-hour battery to extend its electric range by 50 per cent to 114 miles in combined city-highway driving. When additional range is needed, a 650 cc 2-cylinder gas engine with 38 horsepower is available to generate electricity. It now has a 2.4 gallon fuel tank compared with 1.9 for the current model. Total gas and electric range for the 2017 hasn’t been certified by the federal government, but it will be higher than the current model’s 150 miles. Price starts at $43,600 without the range extender gas engine and $47,450 (U.S.) with it. Both prices exclude shipping and electric car tax credits.

2 SERIES: The small coupe gets the next generation of BMW four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines and a slight change in numbers. The 228i goes to 230i and gets a new 248-horsepower turbocharged 2-litre four. The M235i becomes the M240i and gets a new inline 3-litre, 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine with 335 horsepower, 15 more than its predecessor. There also are convertible models. Pricing for the 230i starts at $32,850 excluding shipping, while the M240i starts at $44,150 (U.S.) without shipping.

3 SERIES: The new engines go into the 3 Series small sedan, which also gets number changes. Gone is the 328i, which becomes the 330i and it gets the new four-cylinder engine. The 335i becomes the 340i and gets the new inline six. There also are sport wagon and Gran Turismo models. The 330i starts at $42,650 excluding shipping, while the 340i starts at $47,600 (U.S.).                                                                                                                                                                                                                     BUICK

LACROSSE:     General Motors’ near-luxury brand keeps fighting in the shrinking big-car segment with a redesigned version of the Buick LaCrosse. The brand’s flagship repeats the common GM theme for new vehicles: longer, lower, wider and lighter. Engineers were able to take out about 300 pounds in the redesign by using lighter high-strength steel and lower-mass, sound-absorbing materials. The car gets a new grille inspired by Buick’s acclaimed Avenir concept car. Also new is a revamped 3.6-litre V-6 with 310 horsepower, and a new eight-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 can operate as a four-cylinder engine on the highway to save fuel. A four-cylinder option from the 2016 model year was scratched. The LaCrosse also gets stop-start technology that shuts off the engine at stoplights and automatically turns it back on. All the changes push the car’s highway mileage to 31 mpg for the front-wheel-drive version, up 3 mpg from last year’s V6. The car went on sale in late August and starts at just over $32,000 (U.S.) excluding shipping.

ENCLAVE:              Buick’s big people-hauling SUV is due for a makeover in 2017, but nothing has been announced yet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   CHEVROLET

BOLT:  Long-awaited, all-electric Tesla fighter goes on sale late this year as a 2017 model. Company says it will go more than 200 miles on a single charge. While it’s a compact car, it has a hatch and looks a little like an SUV. The five-passenger Bolt, priced about $37,500 (U.S.) excluding a $7,500 federal tax credit, has a 10.2-inch touch screen and can be recharged to 80 per cent of its battery capacity in an hour on a 240-volt charger.

CRUZE:  Vastly improved compact car gets a sporty hatchback version. Due out in the fall. Starts at $21,315 (U.S.) excluding shipping.

EQUINOX:  Chevy’s midsize SUV is likely to be revamped in 2017, but GM hasn’t released details.

TRAVERSE:   Ditto for the people-hauling Traverse. Its sister, the GMC Acadia, was revamped for this model year, so it’s likely the Traverse will get similar treatment. No details announced yet.

TRAX: Subcompact SUV gets interior and exterior freshening, but the guts remain the same. 2017 model available this fall starting at $21,000 (U.S.) without shipping                                                                                                                                                                                                                       HONDA

ACCORD HYBRID:       After a year’s absence, the hybrid version returns. The restyled exterior has a brighter grille, standard LED fog lamps and a sharper nose. Updated hybrid powertrain that combines two motors and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, with up to 212 horsepower, 16 more than the previous model. Fuel economy improves 1 mpg to 48 in city and highway driving. Advanced safety features — including forward collision warning, lane departure warning and pedestrian detection — are standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available. Went on sale this summer; starts at $29,605 (U.S.).

CIVIC HATCHBACK:        The hatchback version of Honda’s Civic small car returns to the U.S. market more than a decade after it was last sold here. It has sporty styling and a 174-horsepower 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine; in the Sport and Sport Touring models, that’s cranked up to 180 horsepower. There’s a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic. Gets 34 mpg in combined city and highway driving. Options include a full set of driver-assist technology, including forward collision warning and automatic braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control that can work at high and low speeds. On sale this fall. Price not announced.

RIDGELINE:   A decade after its introduction — and three years after it was pulled from the market — Honda is reintroducing its midsize pickup. The new truck ditches the old, funky styling for a more rugged look. Longer and wider bed features industry-first truck bed audio system for the tailgating crowd. Honda says payload capacity is 1,584 pounds, the most for a midsize truck. Can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Comes with a new, 3.5-litre V-6 that with 280 horsepower is 30 more than its predecessor. It’s mated to a six-speed transmission. Honda says the Ridgeline is 78 pounds lighter and more aerodynamic, helping fuel economy. The all-wheel-drive version gets 21 mpg in city and highway driving, up from 17. Went on sale in June. Starts at $29,475 (U.S.).                                                                                                                                                                                                              HYUNDAI

IONIQ:                The new Ioniq is about as unique as it gets, offering customers three methods for making it move — battery power, gas and electric hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid that can travel over 25 miles on battery alone. The Ioniq looks normal, not much different from the popular gas-powered midsize Sonata. The hybrid versions have a 1.6-litre, 104-horsepower engine made specifically for hybrid use. Hyundai paired it with a 6-speed automatic transmission to give the car better acceleration and driving performance. The electric Ioniq can go up to 110 miles per charge. Some versions will be in showrooms starting in the fall. No prices announced.

ELANTRA:             Hyundai compact gets revamped and restyled. It’s about an inch longer and wider than its predecessor, and its interior is large enough to be classified as a midsize car under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rules. Hyundai says the car is nice enough to compare favourably with small luxury models. Hyundai added high-strength steel to make the chassis more rigid for better handling, yet the company says it has lower noise and vibration. The car gets new engines including a 2.0-litre four with 147 horsepower with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Also a new 1.4-litre turbocharged four on the Eco model with 128 horsepower mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Eco gets 35 mpg in combined city-highway testing, Hyundai says. Starts at $17,150 (U.S.) excluding shipping. On sale now.

NEW KTM Duke 390 vs Bajaj Dominar 400 features, specifications

KTM Duke 390 vs Bajaj Dominar 400                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM Duke 390: Engine and specifications
Moving on to the meat of the matter, the Bajaj Dominar 400 and the KTM Duke 390 both feature the same 373 cc mill. But there are stark differences in how they are tuned. The Dominar 400’s engine delivers around 34.5 bhp of power and 35 Nm of torque, while the Duke 390 delivers 43 bhp and 35 Nm of torque. This gives the Duke 390 a top whack of around 169 kmph, while the official top speed of the Dominar 400 is around 148 kmph. That is a pretty stark difference for two bikes using the same engine. The Dominar has basically been tuned for lower top-end performance and more torque, as would be expected from something pegged as a power cruiser. The KTM, however, is designed for outright, raw performance and gets a more rev-happy motor. There is also the fact that the Dominar weighs a massive 182 kg (kerb), as compared to the 154 kg kerb weight of the KTM Duke                                                                                                                                                                                    Bajaj Dominar
Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM Duke 390: Features
The perimeter frame of the Dominar 400 and the trellis frame of the KTM Duke 390 both provide the flexibility and agility to attack corners. But with the Dominar’s stance and front-heavy weight distribution, it remains to be seen how well it perform as a corner carver. The Duke 390, on the other hand, is a surgical scalpel in the right hands. It is a tried and tested machine for the twisties, and a delight for anyone who likes to ride anywhere but straight. Deliveries of the Dominar 400 will begin in January 2017, and here’s hoping that the bike’s cornering skills get tested and evaluated soon.

At the launch event, Bajaj Auto said that the Dominar 400 comes with around 100 features. While the exact number cannot be verified, the new motorcycle does come with a boat-load of them. To make things simpler, let’s start from the front. The first thing is the dual-channel ABS, a big addition to the Bajaj stable. It is a welcome one too, and something that will Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM Duke 390: Pricing
hopefully be included across the automaker’s range of motorcycles. Bajaj has been known to make bikes with a lot of raw power, and the Dominar is not lacking. Given all the power on tap and the condition of Indian roads and traffic, ABS is a true-blue lifesaver. Moving on, the Dominar also gets a split reverse LCD display that is, frankly, much easier on the eyes especially at night. There is a secondary line of indicator lights on the tank. The Dominar 400 also gets full LED headlights that automatically switch on and off based on ambient light. That is an industry-first for India, and the second headlight-related innovation that Bajaj has brought to the country after it introduced projector headlights with the Pulsar 220.

There are a lot of ways in which the KTM Duke 390 beats the Dominar 400. It has the more powerful engine, is lighter and is arguably better built than the Bajaj motorcycles. It is also a tried and tested model, unlike the all new Dominar 400. But there is one thing in which the Dominar dominates the Duke, and that is pricing. Bajaj Auto has long been known for its value-for-money pricing, but this takes the cake. The Dominar 400 is priced at INR 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the non-ABS variant and INR 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the ABS model. In comparison, the KTM Duke 390 is priced at INR 1.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). On-road, the Duke 390 crosses over the INR 2 lakh price band. With this, the Dominar 400 presents itself as a hugely interesting proposition, and one that will definitely bring in customers to Bajaj showrooms nationwide

Tech Predictions for 2017 near future.

Near the future                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      $  President Trump’s Impact

It’s well known that Silicon Valley was generally not a big supporter of President-elect Donald Trump. However, technology executives are pragmatic, and they know they need to deal with his administration if they want to see their tech agenda advanced over the next four (or eight) years.
Trump’s recent meeting with leaders like Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and others allowed these leaders to share with Trump their concerns. Trump now needs to try and make sure he doesn’t do anything that hurts the tech world from making advances during his presidency. However, Trump is unpredictable, and it’s unclear what his approach to tech might be. This will be a huge issue for tech in 2017, possibly the biggest.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           (I) gaming over the near future.

On the other hand, Niantic’s Pokémon Go game introduced AR to a broad worldwide audience, giving players a taste of how information and images can be superimposed on any kind of image or setting to add content and even video to the real world.

Apple CEO Cook said he believes AR is much more interesting to his company than VR. I would not be surprised if AR will be a big focus when Apple introduces its next iPhone, likely in the fall of 2017. Expect more non-Apple phones to pack AR as well, likely via Google’s Tango tech. I also believe we will see the first generation of mixed reality consumer glasses that have both AR and VR apps, although AR will be the predominant solution in this generation of consumer devices.

(II) 2-in-1 Computers Take Off

Talking with most PC vendors, especially those making Windows portable PCs, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to innovate on a traditional clamshell laptop design. Consequently, PC makers are putting most of their attention on innovating around what the industry calls 2-in-1s, which feature a tablet-style design with an attachable keyboard. (Think Microsoft’s Surface Pro lineup.)

PC vendors will also work on “convertibles,” which look more like traditional laptops but also have a touchscreen and removable keyboard. (Think Lenovo’s Yoga machines.)

The PC industry’s goal now is to move everyone over to 2-in-1 and convertible designs, as they are a more versatile computing platform. (And convincing users they need to upgrade could help juice flagging sales.)

(iii) Car buyers will increasingly demand smart automobiles

Although we’ll see plenty of news and activity around the development of self-driving vehicles, these types of cars won’t be on the market for mainstream use until at least 2022. In the meantime, consumers will be interested in finding ways to make their existing cars smarter using software like Apple’s CarPlay or Google’s Android Auto and other data-connected systems to add intelligence to any car.

Additionally, there are some interesting new smart automotive systems like one from Navdy, which adds a heads-up display (HUD) to nearly any vehicle, displaying navigation information, notifications and more. In 2017 we’ll see more car owners opt to smarten up their existing vehicles using tech like this.

(IV) Hackers and criminals will get smarter

There were around 707 million cybersecurity breaches in 2015, with 554 million in just the first half of 2016, according to Intel Security, formerly McAfee. This year, hackers are learning to use artificial intelligence to automate their attacks, making it even faster for them to break into targets’ accounts. The New York Times‘ John Markoff has more:

The alarm about malevolent use of advanced artificial intelligence technologies was sounded earlier this year by James R. Clapper, the director of National Intelligence. In his annual review of security, Mr. Clapper underscored the point that while A.I. systems would make some things easier, they would also expand the vulnerabilities of the online world.
The next generation of these tools will add machine learning capabilities that have been pioneered by artificial intelligence researchers to improve the quality of machine vision, speech understanding, speech synthesis and natural language understanding. Some computer security researchers believe that digital criminals have been experimenting with the use of A.I. technologies for more than half a decade.

new tech trends to watch out for in 2017

Highlights of the  trends for 2017 and beyond:

                                                                                                                      *Artificial Intelligence Everywhere
: Jemdahl said that consumers expect artificial intelligence (AI) to move from assistants to managers, adding that virtual reality will be indistinguishable from physical reality in only three years. 35 percent of advanced internet users want an AI advisor at work, and one in four would like an AI as their manager. At the same time, almost half are concerned that AI robots will soon make a lot of people lose their jobs.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             *Setting the Pace for Internet of Things: Consumers are increasingly using automated applications, encouraging IoT adoption. Two in five believe smartphones will learn their habits and perform activities on their behalf automatically.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      *Pedestrians Drive  Autonomous Cars: Car drivers may not exist in the future. One in four pedestrians would feel safer crossing a street if all cars           were autonomous, and 65 percent of them would prefer to have an autonomous car.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                * Merged Reality: Almost four out of five virtual reality users believe VR will be indistinguishable from reality in only three    years. Half of respondents are already interested in gloves or shoes that allow you to interact with virtual objects. Reflecting on the rise of virtual reality, Michael Björn, Head of Research, Ericsson ConsumerLab, says: “Beyond real time, I believe we should be talking about reality time. In fact, what we call reality becomes ever more personal and subjective. Consumers not only surround themselves with the like-minded on social networks, but also are also starting to customize the way they experience the world with augmented and virtual reality technologies.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             *Bodies Out of Sync: As autonomous cars become reality, car sickness issues will increase, and three in ten foresee needing sickness pills. One in three also want motion sickness pills for use with virtual and augmented reality technology.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   *The Smart Device Safety Paradox: More than half already use emergency alarms, tracking or notifications on their smartphones. Of those who say their smartphone makes them feel safer, three in five say they take more risks because they rely on their phone.                                                                                                                                                                                                             *Social Silos: Today, people willingly turn their social networks into silos. One in three says social networks are their main source of news. And more than one in four value their contacts’ opinions more than politicians’ viewpoints.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                *Augmented Personal Reality: Over  half of      people would like to use        augmented reality glasses to illuminate dark surroundings and highlight dangers. More than one in three would also like to edit out disturbing elements around them.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               *The Privacy Divide: Two in five advanced internet users want to use only encrypted services, but people are divided. Almost half would like to have just reasonably good privacy across all services, and more than one out of three believes privacy no longer exists.                                                                                                                                                                                                          *Big Tech for All: More than two out of five advanced internet users would like to get all their products from the biggest five IT companies. Of those, three in four believe this will happen only five years from now. The report also made a case for 5G networks adding that “consumers also want the future to remain fully mobile, the demand for battery-friendly, instant and fast connectivity is set to grow rapidly. In that sense, reality time means it is time for 5G networks.”

The cycling industry opened its Cyclitech

Cyclitech                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The theme of the conference focused on optimization—of safety, testing, and composite materials and manufacturing processes. The importance of quality control was stressed. Most defects of composite structures—in this case bicycle frames, forks, handlebars and other components—are invisible until the part fails. And failure at the speeds and road conditions experienced in today’s cycling domain can be catastrophic not only to the bike, but to the rider.

It was agreed by several presenters that new standards need to be developed to be in line with current rider usage.
For new designs, FEA analysis was recommended in conjunction with CAD to determine material parameters and optimize the design space. Manufacturers were cautioned not to rely solely on modeling from material data sheets, but to perform actual testing to validate modeling.
Oxeon’s TeXtreme spread tow fiber, Innegra Technologies’ thermoplastic high performance fiber, Lamborghini/Gemini Composites Forged Composite carbon fiber SMC and Rein4ced engineering consultants’ steel fiber reinforcements were among various products presented to improve bicycle performance and cost control.

Helmet materials optimized for safety and speed were presented by Koroyd and Giro Sport Design.
Several speakers presented the variety of NDI testing equipment and procedures available to detect delamination, porosity, voids and other defects in manufactured parts before they are sent out on the road.
Recycled carbon fiber, mostly obtained from uncured carbon epoxy prepreg, was also described as a suitable low-cost option for bicycles.
The conference closed with a question and answer session with Greg LeMond, three-time Tour de France winner and founder of LeMond Composites (by Skype connection as LeMond was not able to attend). His last two Tour de France races were on carbon fiber bikes and LeMond expressed an affinity towards carbon fiber.

Now LeMond has a signed licensing agreement with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL, Oak Ridge, Tenn.) for the low-cost carbon fiber ORNL has developed. LeMond is building a facility in Oak Ridge to make carbon composite products for bicycles, automotive and other commercial markets from that low cost carbon fiber.  His goal is to provide carbon composite products to underserved non-aerospace markets and to build a database for applicable resins.
